For the Love of the Game
With a huge heads up to Nicholas Murphy-Whymark, here are the Wivenhoe Town FC films that were first screened at the Promised Land evening with local author Anthony Clavane last week at Broad Lane.
As was explained on the night – these videos aren’t in HD or 3D, but what they may lack in Hollywood production values, they more than make up for in local community spirit.
What strikes me about watching the films the morning after a disasterous night of home nation results, is the central message of community and enjoyment. The aim for the first team is of course to win, but down at the lower level of the club, the emphasis with the junior teams is on coaching skills first, and then hopefully results will follow.
Julian Dicks still sacres me very, very much though…
The next Wivenhoe Town home game is on 23rd October, 3pm kick at Broad Lane against Newmarket Town.
